HOW WE CAN HELP
Recently diagnosed with prostate cancer? Want to connect with others on this journey?
You're in the right place. Prostate Cancer Support Burnaby provides local one-on-one prostate cancer support.
And through our affiliation with Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada, we provide access to prostate cancer information, resources, support groups, webinars, and more.

LOCAL SUPPORT GROUP
Support groups bring together people who are going through, or have already gone through, the experience of being diagnosed with prostate cancer, navigating treatment options, and managing the side effects that may accompany treatment.
They provide an opportunity for individuals, and their support people or partners, to share their personal experiences and thoughts and to receive emotional support from others in the group.

Prostate Cancer Support Burnaby invites you to join their meetings the 1st Saturday of each month at 10:00 am. Meetings are held with a hybrid format: please contact the organizer for Zoom details or join us in person at 3713 Kensington Ave in the Christine Sinclair Community Centre, Burnaby BC.
(2nd floor Multipurpose Room).

BUTTS IN A BOAT DRAGON-BOATING
Try out dragon boating with the Butts in a Boat dragon boat team. If you have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, paddling with the Butts may be the best thing you can do to stay healthy and have fun!

Dragon boating is a team sport with 20 paddlers, a steer-person and a drummer, all working together to propel a long, thin wooden boat. The sport requires some fitness, but it mostly requires precision in paddling. The beauty of the sport is in the synchrony of the stroke!

The Butts team is the first prostate cancer team in the world, and it began where dragon boating for cancer patients began: right here in False Creek, Vancouver!

Who can try it? Any man, who has ever been diagnosed with prostate cancer—whether they have been treated or not—is welcome to try out dragon boating with us any Tuesday evening from mid-March until mid-October. Assuming you are fit enough to exercise, just show up at one of our practices!

What do I need? One needs no special equipment. Paddles and life vests are provided for us on the dock.

What else should I know? A short social over a beverage follows, and this is a great opportunity for the guys to connect.
